At DCS Corp, employee-owners are stakeholders in the success of our business. We have a vested interest in helping our customers solve problems and develop solutions that contribute to the safety and security of our nation.

As engineers, scientists, program managers, and business process experts, our employee-owners display a natural inquisitiveness and willingness to explore innovative alternatives that result in the best solution for our customer. Throughout its history, DCS Corp has fostered employee initiative and entrepreneurism by rewarding employee-owners’ efforts to proactively solve problems and develop solutions that address our customers’ needs.

Some examples of our problem-solving culture have resulted in improvements to our company and to the customers that we support. The benefit of these enhancements resulted in improved:

• Safety – An employee-owner working at a government facility proactively requested training on the facility’s emergency medical defibrillator. Shortly after concluding the training course, a contractor working at the facility suffered a heart attack. The DCS employee-owner and a government employee were able to work together and apply the defibrillator and perform CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived to transfer him to the hospital.
• Communication – The Employee Advisory Committee (EAC) is led by a group of employee-owners representing each of our locations to provide an additional communication channel between employees and management. Employees are encouraged to relay questions or concerns to the EAC. The EAC is empowered to develop recommendations to management on behalf of employees to develop solutions and execution plans.

The EAC was established in the late 1990s as a means of communicating with management regarding quality initiatives that employee-owners indentified. Eventually, the employee-led focus on quality translated into a formal Quality Management System that is ISO 9001:2008 certified.
