DCS Corporation Wins Contract Award with Army Research Lab
ALEXANDRIA, VA –May 27, 2010 – DCS Corporation, headquartered in Alexandria, VA, announced today that the company has been awarded a $25 million contract by the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) to establish and operate a collaborative technology alliance (CTA) in cognition and neuroergonomics. DCS Corp leads a consortium of world-class research institutes including the University of California San Diego Swartz Center for Computational Neuroscience, National Chiao Tung University (Taiwan) Brain Research Center, University of Michigan School of Kinesiology, University of Texas San Antonio Department of Computer Science, and University of Osnabrück (Germany) Institute of Cognitive Science.
Under the five-year contract, DCS Corp and its partners will develop and demonstrate principles governing the translation and application of theory and empirical research in fundamental cognitive neuroscience to complex military environments. The planned research and development efforts aim to optimize information transfer between the Warfighter and the advanced systems that are expected to be used on the battlefield, to use the concepts of information representation and transfer to facilitate decision-making in complex, risky environments, and finally, to implement advanced tools and techniques to enable individualized physiological and behavioral assessment in the operational context.
Under a separate Technology Transition Contract, DCS Corp will also support ARL efforts to transition the concepts, theories, and technologies from the fundamental research efforts of the alliance to specific applications of interest to the Army.
