DCS Corp Achieves CMMI Maturity Level 3 Rating

ALEXANDRIA, VA – November 6, 2009 – DCS Corp today announced that the company’s Decision Support Division, based in Lexington Park, MD, received a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level 3 rating. This rating is administered by the Software Engineering Institute and validates DCS process capabilities to consistently support Department of Defense clients in all aspects of software product development.

The DCS Decision Support Division (DSD) provides software engineering solutions to support our clients in the Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps. The DSD process provides benefits to customers including improved cost and schedule estimation, productivity, quality, and increased customer satisfaction.

Regarding successful achievement of the rating, David Russell, President and Chief Operating Office, said, “I commend our employee-owners in the Decision Support Division for their technical and professional excellence. This independent assessment of our capabilities demonstrates that our focus on customer satisfaction allows for continued prime performance on government and Department of Defense contracts.”

Leslie Taylor, Director of Flight Test Engineering for NAVAIR 5.1, said the DSD’s successful appraisal was “outstanding and reflective of a lot of sustained hard work and professionalism.”

DCS achieved the rating on August 14, 2009, through a successful Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) Class A appraisal. The appraisal was conducted over a period of seven working days and evaluated the division’s process maturity in 17 process areas in project management, engineering, support, and organizational and process management. Over 2300 separate pieces of process evidence were examined, and interviews with 25% of DSD members were conducted.

The appraisal findings noted several areas in which DCS’s DSD processes exceeded the practices of the CMMI including the organization’s innovative web-based approach for maintaining process documentation, its software engineering toolset, and the thoroughness of its peer review process.
